Our Mission

We are a civil rights organization that pursues justice for all citizens in America, ensuring political, educational, social and economic equality.

NAACP Springfield is an entirely volunteer-driven organization. We rely on engaged members and volunteers to help us expand our reach as we work to make our community a better place to live for everyone.

OUR CORE FOCUS AREAS

Education

Our ultimate goal is that every student of color receives a quality public education that prepares him or her to be a contributing member of a democracy.

Economic Opportunity

We believe in a chance to live the American Dream for all. Every person should have an equal opportunity to achieve economic success, sustainability, and security.

Criminal Justice

Advocating for smarter, results-based criminal justice policies to keep our communities safe, including treatment for addiction and mental health problems, and an end to racial disparities at all levels of the system.

Health

Committed to eliminating the racial and ethnic inequities that exist within our health care system that undermine communities of color their life opportunities and their ability to contribute fully to the common good.

Climate Justice

Environmental injustice, including the proliferation of climate change, has a disproportionate impact on communities of color and low-income communities in the United States and around the world.

Federal Advocacy

Priorities include the protection of civil rights, a fair and equal criminal justice system, high-quality educational opportunities, a fair labor environment, and affordable adequate housing and health care for all Americans.
